To climb up the ladder, you need to earn money, gain experience and have a big following. There are several “clean” ways to do this:

a. Earn money & reputation by clicking on the most menial of jobs, choose the one that pays highest in ratio with the energy, stamina and health.

b. Buy your weapons. Always remember to check what jobs that you can do (depending on your energy) and what weapon that they require. The mistake of beginners is to acquire too many of something, and neglect on other weapons that are needed. Then you will need to struggle with more time to rebuild your funds to purchase the weapons.

c. Keep the extra money. When you login to the game, after purchasing the weapons that you need, always keep the extras into the bank. A 10% laundering will be required, but it doesn’t matter. It is better than to hold the cash with you and then be attacked and have your share taken away by other mafia players.

d. Buy and build. Go to Properties, buy land and build on it. You will earn as long as you purchase enough properties on the empty lot to make it profitable. Properties are good money, in this game and in real life. And remember to protect your property with insurance.

e. Help others to do jobs. Your friends will always post to let you know what jobs they needed help in. Keep helping them, and you will earn your share too. This is one of the many ways to help with the extra income.

f. Ask others for help too. Mafia works in a family. You will earn extra when you ask your friends to help.

g. Giving is a virtue. Whether it is Christmas or not, brotherhood means giving at anytime at all. It doesn’t cost you a cent, you only need to start giving.

h. Be patient. Good things come to those who wait, so does good recovery. If your brothers have given you an energy pack and your hand does itch to do more jobs, use these energy packs. Time heal all wounds and take this time to manage your properties as much as possible. By the time you’re done with property trading, you would have healed enough to do more jobs and earn more money. Property management comes with huge rewards. Money flows in without you having bruises all over.

Properties
Buy properties that have the best return on investment and help you generate passive income. By having properties, you make money every hour without even logging in! If you had chosen Mogul as your character money comes to you six minutes earlier.

There is a trade off where equipments are concerned. Despite having to have them, armors, guns and chain guns are expenses that make you lose money. Each time you make a profit, money is deducted. Logic will tell you to invest smartly by not letting expenses exceed income. Delay purchase of items until you are able to acquire properties to offset the expense items. In any case, opt to buy Mafia Mike’s upon availability. No other properties will come close to its profitability despite the quantity.

The other tip is to buy properties in bulks. Save up and go for the allowed 10 at a time in the game. This way you get the best returns. If you do not have enough to purchase 10 Valu-Mart that will set you back by $4,000,000, start with Abandoned Lot that cost you only $50,000 or 10 Italian restaurants for $300,000.

Use of the Godfather
Godfather allows the spending of reward points in the game. You get 10 reward points at the start of Mafia Wars. After which, you will get one point for every level you obtain and another 5 as a bonus after you start playing. Natural regeneration of stamina and Energy Paks are worth waiting for unless you are urgently trying to speed level.

The top consideration for redemption should go towards a name change if it gives leverage to the family name and skill points. Money is a no-no option as there are many ways to solve the shortage without using and throwing away good reward points unless you are in dire straits. Buying of additional mafia members should be done at your discretion. Do you really need them or would you rather keep it real with friends and make the game as much of your fight as it is theirs? Among the first few things to do in establishing a mob family is growing one. After which, you will need to level up your character in the most speedy manner. Mafia family and its perks

Job Mastery
Skill points are awarded at every level of Job Mastery. You must master all the jobs within that category before other jobs become available for you. A title is given based on the mastered job tier in the specific category. This is a sure way to be noticed by other mafia families to show how advanced you are in that particular job. The first tier jobs consist of Street Thug, Skilled Street Thug, and Master Street Thug and Master Boss.

Fights
At early stages of the game, equip every member of your family with weapons, armor and vehicle to engage in fights and win. Strike a balance between attack and defense by making sure that weapons, armor and vehicle are at the highest attack. This is important in fights. As bad as it sounds, pick on smaller families. It will give you definite advantage to level up.

Mogul
This is the least interesting of the three characters. A Mogul earns money every 54 minutes compared to other characters that will usually generate it in the interval span of 60 minutes. However, earning an income is the hard way. Mafia Wars is about having passive income. This character may be useful until about level 40 where other things become priority than earning an income. The only plus point of being a Mogul is it allows you to become a Bagman in your friend’s Top Mafia. This is where you can double money from performing jobs. Once again, this is of no real use when passive income can be generated elsewhere.

Maniac
If you like to pick a fight and want to always win, this is the character for you. A Maniac can qualify to become a Button man that gives you automatic win over any fight you start. What better way to become a true Mafia! Choosing to be a Maniac, your energy regenerates every 3 minutes instead of 5 to earn one point in comparison to other characters. This character gives you more speed to level but this also means more energy refills from Energy Paks. It will also take the thrill away during initiation of fights. If the outcome is spelled out i.e. a sure win, it no longer has the element of surprise and excitement.

Fearless
This character should be considered if you intend to advance Mafia Wars on a long-term basis. You will restore energy faster than Mogul and Maniac. One must look deeper than just the health regeneration itself. Imagine where jobs do not cost energy. This will be especially valuable at higher levels where jobs cost a lot. This is where the chance to be Wheel Man comes in with the Top Mafia. It is an irresistible opportunity for many players who can see how enticing it is later part in the game.

Skills
Making the right decision is an important part of the game. Mafia Wars is not a game for idiots. It requires a lot of thought. Make your first skill points count by upgrading your energy to at least 30 before moving on to other stats. Only then you should you use to begin to spend it.

Is starting over permitted?
